Jamaica Breezes Runaway Bay 2008
March 15th to March 22 2008. March 18th Twenty Five Years Ago Today. Silver Anniversary. Beautiful room #2131 Large patio with a plunge pool, walk in closet, king size bed, nice bathroom. The resort was fantastic, never a lack of things to do, and everyone here is very pleasant. Sunday March 16th 2008 Booked the glass bottom boat for a Monday morning. Booked the Italian Restaurant for tonight at 6:00pm. It was very elegant and the food was delicious. Booked the Japanese restaurant for 6:00pm Thursday night. Booked Dunns River Falls and the catamaran, and the Bob Marley Tour. The rest of the day relaxed and investigated the resort. In the afternoon we where on the patio, a knock came from within our room. We where wondering who was in our room. It was a waiter with a bottle of Chilled Champagne, two glasses, Cheese Tray, and a Fruit Tray, also a letter from the resort congratulating us on our Twenty Fifth Wedding Anniversary. We where very impressed. Monday March 17th 2008 Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, relaxed in the infinity pool with a few drinks and chatted with other travelers. In the afternoon we went on a horse and buggy ride to Layman Hall, an area of timeshare homes. When we got in the horse and buggy there was a tour guide telling us about the area and served us glasses of chilled Chardonnay from the ice bucket that was on board. When we got back to our room there was another bottle of Champagne and more food. Just another day in Paradise. Tuesday March 18th 2008. Good Morning, Happy Anniversary Honey! Started the day with a big breakfast like we have done every day so far. The food is great and lots of variety. Went back to the room to pack for the Catamaran and Dunns River Falls. What a trip, the ocean was crazy with waves, we where laughing the whole time. Dunns river Falls was so magnificent, a real gem of Jamaica. The trip back on the Catamaran was even more fun, "The Party Started" The entertainer served drink to everyone because "NO ONE" could get they’re drinks back to their seat without spilling it, that was too funny. The entertainers had their sea legs, the whole trip was a blast. After dinner, I had a song dedicated to Jerry from me called ……….. "All of My Life. I sang it to him, there was just the two of us on the dance floor. What a sap I am, but that is just me. When we got back to our seats there was a beautifully wrapped box, and inside was an anniversary ring, Guess what? Tears in my eyes, I didn’t cry, there was too many people. I did pretty well for not crying, I truly am a sap. About twenty minutes later we ended up in a Lovers Game on stage with three other couples, now that was hilarious. Later that evening we ended up at the Disco. What a Beautiful Day! Wednesday March 19th 2008. Walked the resort. Went in the pool several times, had a few drinks and relaxed on our patio. After dinner I ended up in a congo dance line, thinking that I was going around the room and was going to return to my seat. No way, I ended up on the beach in a competition. Two teams, of twenty-two people on each team. We where running, passing hoops to each other trying not to drop it, crawling through each others legs and the list went on and on. Jerry thought he had better come and find me seeing as I did not return to the table. I was having way too much fun. Thursday March 20th 2008 We went on the 4X4 Safari Tour Bob Marley. We took this tour so we could see the country side, the real Jamaica. Up the mountain we went on several back roads. At the top you could see for miles over looking the ocean and several resort, so beautiful. The countryside was thick with vegetation. We even saw marijuana growing on the side of the road. The people in the villages where very poor, but everyone smiled or waved as we drove past. A lot of the children ran behind our vehicle yelling for money, a few managed to jump on the back of the vehicle. We where a little upset, because we where afraid they might fall and get hurt. In exchange for a dollar Jerry and I asked if we could take there picture……..The response " yah " take my picture. At one point we where asked if anyone wanted marijuana, two young fellows did and we moved on. Finally we arrived at the birthplace of Bob Marley. It seemed more a compound than anything else, we all walked up a lot of stairs then we where greeted by a tour guide. He took us to the small house where Bob Marley was born, the grounds and his mausoleum. Our tour guide reminded me of Bob Marley himself and he was even stoned. All in all, it was what it was and it truly was an eye opener. Friday March 21st 2008 Just a relax day around the resort doing the usual. The walk about, having lunch at the snack bar, which usually was jerk pork or jerk chicken soooo good. There was always activity around the terrace bar area like a beer drinking contests or music trivia, there was never a dull moment. Saturday March 22nd 2008 So sad, now the holiday is over…. But, we have a late flight so we can still hang out until 6:00pm. Awesome. During the afternoon we listened to a steel band playing several songs and saw lots of brake dancing moves. Smiles on all of their faces, you could tell they enjoyed, performing for their audience. In Jamaica at Easter they celebrate from the Thursday through Sunday, so the staff had many activities planned, for all the tourists. On the Saturday we where able to take in the carnival that was a planned competition of three groups involving staff and tourist. It was for best costumes which they designed, dance, song and gymnastics of sorts. It was absolutely amazing. What a fun time wish our vacation had of been longer. Fantastic Vacation.
